TV Ratings Premiere Notes For Monday, September 22, 2014: The Big Bang Theory (CBS), Gotham (FOX), Scorpion (CBS), Sleepy Hollow (FOX), Forever (ABC), The Blacklist (NBC)

Last night was the first big night of the 2014-2015 TV season, and a lot of people were tuned in.  I'll provide half hour numbers for all of the hour long dramas.

The Big Bang Theory (CBS, Mondays at 8pm ET)

17.752 million Overall Viewers (first half hour)
5.3/17 in the 18-49 Demo

17.985 million Overall Viewers (second half hour)
5.4/15 in the 18-49 Demo

What a massive shocker that TBBT is doing so poorly this season.  Will it survive the current bubble it's on?  Stay tuned to find out. ;)

Gotham (FOX, Mondays at 8pm ET)

7.767 million Overall Viewers (first half hour)
3.1/10 in the 18-49 Demo

8.209 million Overall Viewers (second half hour)
3.2/9 in the 18-49 Demo

These are obviously excellent numbers (the rise in the second half hour is a very good thing), and as long as it doesn't crash and burn the show should easily make it to a second season.

Scorpion (CBS, Mondays at 9pm ET)

14.528 million Overall Viewers (first half hour)
3.4/9 in the 18-49 Demo

13.488 million Overall Viewers (second half hour)
3.1/8 in the 18-49 Demo

That is an ugly drop from the first to second half hour.  I've heard a bunch of bad stuff about the show (not even the slight bit interested in checking it out myself), so we should expect more bloodletting next week.  It's got a bit of room to fall before it's in danger, and only the show's quality will determine whether it continues that fall.

Sleepy Hollow (FOX, Mondays at 9pm ET)

6.030 million Overall Viewers (first half hour)
2.2/6 in the 18-49 Demo

5.062 million Overall Viewers (second half hour)
1.8/5 in the 18-49 Demo

That's a big drop from the first to second half hour, but I'm comfortable it's no big deal to this show's prospects for renewal.  Its dug in core fan base sits above the cancellation line.

Forever (ABC, Tuesdays at 10pm ET)

8.866 million Overall Viewers (first half hour)
1.7/5 in the 18-49 Demo

7.655 million Overall Viewers (second half hour)
1.4/4 in the 18-49 Demo

I'm very close to calling this show DOA, but for now, I'll just say the morgue has been prepped for its arrival.  Tonight's episode will probably result in a larger loss of its remaining blood.

The Blacklist (NBC, Mondays at 10pm ET)

13.381 million Overall Viewers (first half hour)
3.7/10 in the 18-49 Demo

11.524 million Overall Viewers (second half hour)
3.1/9 in the 18-49 Demo

NBC's hit continues to reign supreme in the 10pm hour on Monday nights.  The show doesn't really need to be there anymore, but more power to them for keeping it there.  Unfortunately, the episode was mostly devoid of the humor that made it special in season 1.  I'd prefer it not become some gritty story, but that doesn't mean I'll stop watching.

The first big night of the 2014-2015 TV season is in the books.  Thanks for reading.
