Since it seems that TV by the Numbers has been recently flagged as an attack site, I lost the ability to just talk about ratings that appeal to me.  Until they're back up and running normally, I'll start posting the preliminary and final Live + Same Day TV ratings for each day, as I receive them.  I will be posting the time, network, show, 18-49 ratings, and overall viewers for each show.  Hopefully people will find this of use.  For today, I received the half hour ratings for each show, something I know lots of people enjoy seeing.  Thanks for reading.

TV Ratings Notes For Wednesday, February 20, 2013: Whitney (NBC), Guys with Kids (NBC)

Whitney (NBC, Wednesdays at 8pm ET)

3.26 million Overall Viewers
1.1/3 in the 18-49 Demo

Well, I've given a long leash to the show, predicting it would be canceled, but not putting it on the list you do not want to be on.  I have seen some tiny windows of opportunity for renewal for the show, but, as of last night's ratings, I just can't wait any longer.  If the show is really fortunate, it might get listed under the "I've Changed My Mind" section, but don't hold your breath.  Whitney, welcome to the list.

Guys with Kids (NBC, Wednesdays at 8:30pm ET)

2.96 million Overall Viewers
1.1/3 in the 18-49 Demo

Despite its relatively lackluster ratings, all season long, I had avoided putting Guys with Kids on the list you do not want to be on, for a couple of reasons (even at one point predicting renewal).  The first was the dreaded SNL connection, which makes shows that should die live longer than they should.  The second is that it frequently had what I believed were pretty good DVR numbers.

After looking at the last few weeks of TV ratings numbers I receive, this show is now doing pretty terribly in the DVR ratings, and even the SNL connection cannot save a 1.1 rated show in the 18-49 demo.  If this show were receiving a consistent 1.3 in the 18-49 demo, along with a modest bump in DVR ratings, I would lean more toward renewal.  However, it's not, so I won't, so there.  Guys with Kids, welcome to the list. Thanks for reading.

TV Ratings Notes For Tuesday, February 19, 2013: Smash (NBC), Body of Proof (ABC), Go On (NBC), The New Normal (NBC)

Smash (NBC, Tuesdays at 10pm ET)

3.29 million Overall Viewers
0.9/2 in the 18-49 Demo

This is just the beginning of a day of bad news for fans of NBC scripted TV shows that are currently airing on Tuesday nights.  This show has already dropped into territory where it will not be renewed.  Now, it honestly becomes about how much NBC is willing to lose with this show.  A few more weeks of numbers like this, and they won't stick with it anymore.  Even the terrible ratings of Deception are handily beating these.  Smash, welcome to the list you do not want to be on.

Body of Proof (ABC, Tuesdays at 10pm ET)

6.66 million Overall Viewers
1.2/3 in the 18-49 Demo

Even though I believe this show has a lot in common with the devil, as evidenced by the amount of overall viewers, I don't think these numbers are as much of a disaster as others will.  Last season, I predicted the show would get canceled, because of its anemic ratings.  However, I did list one caveat, and that was that if the show was given Dancing with the Stars as a prop up, it could be around forever.  That's because the show always has much better ratings when being led in by DWTS.  The type of numbers you see here are nothing I haven't seen before, for the show.  It does terrible when not led in by DWTS, and does well when it is.  ABC is likely banking on that.  It's not like The Bachelor would have any kind of serious crossover audience with this show, while it's very obvious that the DWTS audience crosses over in a major way.  Will this be the third show Mark Valley's been involved with, in a major way, to get canceled in the last two years, or will it recover when DWTS returns?

Go On (NBC, Tuesdays at 9pm ET)

3.32 million Overall Viewers
1.1/3 in the 18-49 Demo

For a little while, this was my favorite new comedy of the season.  Then, they just kept tinkering and tinkering and tinkering, until the Valentine's Day episode just got to the point where it was straight up terrible.  I have no idea why they thought adding Piper Perabo to the cast was a good idea.  It was a terrible idea, and, in my opinion, it's completely ruined the show.  It doesn't much matter anymore, anyway.  With the ratings this show has had over the last several weeks, it would take a miracle ratings rebound to get to return.  That's what happens when you mismanage a good show, to begin with, into oblivion.  That's just such a crying shame.  Go On, sadly, I have to welcome you to the list you do not want to be on.

The New Normal (NBC, Tuesdays at 9:30pm ET)

2.83 million Overall Viewers
1.0/2 in the 18-49 Demo

My friend, David Klotz, is the Music Editor for this show.  He recently released a new album with his group, Fonda, called "Sell Your Memories", and I mixed seven of the ten songs that appear on it (3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10).  It's available to purchase in a bunch of different places, and probably all of the places you like to buy music (end shameless plug).

I don't have much to say about The New Normal, other than that the ratings are terrible, and have been terrible for as long as Go On's have been terrible.  So, I must welcome The New Normal to the list you do not want to be on, as well.  Thanks for reading.

TV Ratings Premiere Note For Thursday, February 14, 2013: Zero Hour (ABC)

Zero Hour (ABC, Thursdays at 8pm ET)

6.29 million Overall Viewers
1.3/4 in the 18-49 Demo

Don't worry, these ratings are for Valentine's Day, so I'm sure it will recover soon...NOT.  Welcome to the list you do not want to be on.  This show is done, but there's probably nothing else to replace it.  Maybe they can burn off the final episodes of 666 Park Avenue, if they don't air all of them.

There are other shows that were disturbingly low, this week, but those I actually will chalk up to Valentine's Day, and take a look at the DVR ratings in a few weeks to make sure they're still doing okay.  Thanks for reading.

TV Ratings Mid-Season Premiere Note: The Walking Dead (AMC)

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sundays at 9pm ET)

12.30 million Overall Viewers
6.1 in the 18-49 Demo

The Walking Dead continues to defy all ratings expectations, and blew its previous record out of the water.  It goes without saying that this show is a huge hit, and continues to be a huge hit.  This is the highest rated scripted drama on all of TV.  If you're not impressed by how popular this show is, you're probably a hipster.  Thanks for reading.

As no surprise to anyone who watches The CW, Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, and Supernatural have been renewed.  I only wrote this, at all, because I watch Arrow.  Thanks for reading.

More like No Harm Done.  I actually audibly chuckled when I saw the ratings.  I'm still going to check it out, but this is more DOA than if Jimmy Hoffa were found today.  Welcome to the list.  Thanks for reading.
