Thursday, March 8, 2012 TV Ratings Follow Up (Awake)

Awake (NBC, 10pm ET)

4.25 million Overall Viewers
1.6/4 in the 18-49 Demo

The second episode of Awake aired last night, and it was down significantly in the ratings.  The ending of the episode was very polarizing, and will likely result in even more viewers being lost next week.  Unfortunately, for the show, it can't afford to lose any other viewers.  Maybe I'll have another happy update, like last week's upward adjustment, but I have a relatively strong feeling that an adjustment down is more likely.  This is literally right on the line of the show being canceled (the point of no return).  An adjustment up would give me more hope.  An adjustment down, and it's hopeless.  If the show ends up failing, I'm probably going to do a write up about what I think were some of the causes, outside of the potential for this just being some dumb giant conspiracy story regarding some random cop.  If you're a fan of the show, and want it to stick around, you should tell all your friends about it (as long as you're between the ages of 18-49).  As it stands, this show would be better placed on pay cable (HBO, Showtime, etc.) where people don't need to watch it for it to be successful.  Thanks for reading.
